Manchester City star Khadija Shaw has beaten Lionesses forward Lauren James to the Women’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Shaw enjoyed a stellar campaign with Manchester City during the 2023-24 WSL campaign. The striker netted an incredible 21 goals in 18 games to finish as the WSL's top scorer as City were just pipped to the title on the final day by Chelsea.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Shaw wrote her name into the history books last season with her goals. The City attacker became the first player in WSL history to record a goal involvement in 10 straight games. Her exploits saw her scoop the Golden Boot and be named the Women's Super League Player of the Season. She's now followed that up with yet another well-deserved individual accolade. Shaw beat off competition from Niamh Charles, Eric Cuthbert, Yui Hasegawa, Lauren Hemp and James to scoop the prize.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SHAW

    Shaw's season was prematurely ended in April after she suffered a broken foot which subsequently required surgery. Manchester City are due to kick off their new WSL season with a huge clash against Arsenal on September 22.
